About the driving school

Now that i’ve passed the exams a little review of my driving experiences

B * Drivingschool Wim Versaan – Wim (instructor/owner)

BE * Bruinsma – Wiebe (instructor)

A * Bruinsma – Tico (instructor), Bas & Barry

B * Drivingschool Wim Versaan – Wim (instructor/owner)

From 1994-1995
Two series of 3 months totaling up to 40 lessons
A training night to scale up the theoretical part of the exam
No details left after such a number of years but i’ve passed both theoretical and practical exams in one pass

BE * Bruinsma – Wiebe (instructor)

With E-achter-B (trailer) you get an exam-guarantee so you have to be assessed

The first 45 minutes were spent on the assessment taking me through the Platolaan and Prins Hendriklaan

For those unfamiliar to Utrecht, thats the main travel-road between the city and the Academy, so full of cycling students 🙂

The advise was 6 hours of training and then take the exam (one day)

Took some driving, a nice lunch at the ‘old CBR’ building and after some more cornering techniques it was time for the exam

The verdict, stay a little more of the sides in S-curves, thats all! map

The way of working of Bruinsma (organisation) and instructions (Wiebe) are very helpfull and nice. I’ve had a nice time and learned a lot … and ofcourse the pink evidence to prove it 🙂

Wow, 3 instructors? To be honest Tico was my ‘main’ instructor but Barry took me through the Try-The-Bike and 4 hours of learning how to take corners during AVD

Bas assisted on the AVB exam with Tico and had me driving through Utrecht by Night.

Tico was my instructor during AVB and AVD and also the exam instructor, with the bike exam your instructor sits next to the examiner to give you instructions by headset

The buildup of training at Bruinsma is effectie, the Try-The-Bike familiarizes you with the bike (and gets you in the mood ofcourse).

The AVB training is selfpaced/learning and the fact that you drive with a max of 5 bikers on a seperate terrain ensures you have a good feeling and know who’s around you (or not). The passing trains bring some spectators but thats not bothering at all. The only downside is the size of the terrain which makes it hard to speed up on the short slopes.map

The AVD training takes you through Utrecht, ~~messing around~~learning curves at the triple corners at the A28/A27, speeding up on highway entrances and al ot more

Driving through rough terrain on the north side of Maarsen and next to construction sites

Driving in heavy traffic and more!

The AVB exam was easy, nervous but the examiner is good at comforting you. The quick S-curves were impossible to me after 6 hours of driving but the other tasks went perfectly.

The AVD exam was a nice drive, just as the examiner asked me to ‘just take a nice spin’ and was done in no-time. I didn’t have a clue that I was driving for more than 15 minutes. The examiner just had one remark, go get that license and drive!map

Not just because i’ve got the pink paper now, but i’m very satisfied, cheers to the team of Bruinsma!
