airsun in Val Thorens 🙂 The enormous beauty of the weather, although next-weeks visitors will pity, it’s so hot the snow melts below your ski’s. Unbelievable how impressive France can be, but my heart stays with Austria for the wintersports. The food is incredible, but I need to ski damnit 🙂 In spite, you can go much more ‘loose’ here and the size of the area together with ‘off-season’ makes for very much room on the runs.
I’ve been educated myself this week again, they offer private lessons for two persons! So I took off together with Marianne and our teacher. Where she just want’s some coaching for some ‘difficult’ area’s (get this, she has her checklist complete!) I’m getting hammered on the straight parts. Marianne just ticks off a black run, 3x a perfect freefall with run, started on doing ‘bugles’ and is now on the red runs as if she always was there. I couldn’t be more proud!
Meanwhile I’m sweating from old-style to new-style skiing, learned to carve on the (cough) ‘straight’ parts, suddenly remember why I hated falling (ouch) and to top it off I can do the free fall from more than 10 meters. Note that the free fall is right below the lifts and everyone is cheering you can do it. First time I leaned back a little so I crashed but the other times it went ok and gave me a good confidence boost! Now just for more experience on skiing on one leg while putting the other one across – and obviously besides the width of my ski’s learning that carving on steep blue run’s is the bomb!
