Sushi qube?

Tom26 februari 201229 april 2012

We were invited by a friend for a new restaurant in Utrecht, not too far from her place (as in, just tumble once) and were amazed every step of the way, it was perfect! If you are in Utrecht (near the Rembrandt) or in Rotterdam!

From co-workers I already heard about this ‘all-you-can-eat’ concept, but it has a Japanese twist to it. As common with these kind of restaurants you’ll get 2 hours to harvest but they improved on it. When you go to a ‘Wok’ you’ll most likely never see your table-mates (as one has to go and get the food and wait for the preparation of it), at Sushi Cube you can just remain at your table. They are also located in Rotterdam (or also in Utrecht if you look at their site).

The stories on review sites is definitely not ours, the food is really good indeed but the service isn’t pushing customers at all.

Back to the important part, the food … it is very good and tasty! Not compared to all-you-can-eat concept/standards but just good and rest food, nothing you would expect otherwise from Japanese cooks. Compared to eating at a teppan of a ‘regular’ Japanese restaurant it was different but that mostly comes down to the way the food is presented. Eating at the teppan is an experience in itself, here you can just enjoy the food and every single person can have his own taste delivered to the table.

Nice touch of the Japanese way of ‘scooping/overasking to much’ is that you’ll pay a ‘penalty’ when you don’t clean out your plate 🙂 Very nice approach to prevent food from being thrown away!
