Shame on me, despite our previous excellent experience, I didn’t talk much about our visit to Peking Osaka last time. Too much going on that time I think. To take you back in time, we’ve spent some time in this Japanese restaurant in Valkenswaard already. Last time, Chef Tokin, really took the time and effort to spoil his guests, and not just because he’s a good chef, he was going to (further) build the restaurant. His target? Creating a new Eastern-fusion-cooking area next to the upstairs Japanese Teppans. During that visit he guided us both culinary and architectural to what now has become reality. Some of the ‘try-outs’ we got from him then (and, really, those weren’t try-outs but super-delicous) are improved nowadays (no idea those could be improved). Back to present;

As we were driving back this weekend, the steer started to lean towards the exit, disobeying any guidance instructions. Off to Valkenswaard, Tokin-time at Peking Osaka! We reserved upfront and got a table in the (old) Japanse area next to some (other) regular visitors. No teppan in front of us this time (although a good view on it). Despite we didn’t experience (only glanced and gazed) the new interior of the new restaurant we had a great location, sitting in the regular spot with a nice view. And the food was just served to those tables and (partially) cooked on the nearby teppan. The family sitting at the teppan was curious where all that food was going to and why they weren’t getting (that) food 🙂

Tokins (little) Fusion-kitchen serves the most delicious courses in a fun way and Toking regularly checked up with his guests to see what we thought of it. He’s still enthusiastic and was delighted to hear that we thought the food connected nicely to what he served last time during try-out. During our ‘gazing’ time in the new part we also stood by his ‘private’-kitchen, amazing to see him cook and focus on the food. Despite not having him at the teppan personally he does bring the best food back from that kitchen and oversees the final preparations by his sous-chefs on the teppan, not missing anything going on.

Picture-time, see the Dutch blogpost (and no, just 3 pictures, it’s a surprise-menu remember and it’s Chef’s choice) – want some more, let’s head to Valkenswaard!
